Parsi Tower of Silence.

An unusual view of a Parsi Tower of Silence where followers of the Zoroastrian faith lay out their dead, leaving them exposed to the elements and birds of prey.

Circa 1870.

Albumen print. Mounted on a contemporary album leaf with titling in contemporary ink. Verso another albumen print circa 1870 titled 'Futtehpore Sikri - remarkable pillar in the centre of the Dewan-i-Kass'. 235mm x 190mm. (9.25 x 7.5ins).

Rattan Chand’s Tank: Lahore.

The serai and water tank was constructed by Dewan Rattan Chand Dhariwala on the site of the garden, awarded to him by the British in 1849.
